What is ego

I believe that the ego is essentially the childish aspect of human nature. The ego becomes a hurdle when your anger gets the best of you. When things do not go your way, and you get angry, that is the ego at work. Anger and ego go hand in hand. Arguments are also signs of ego. Wanting things to go your way can be a sign of ego. Always wanting to be at the top is a sign of ego. Devotion is one of the best ways to dissolve the ego. Unconditional love is also one of the best ways to avoid ego. The ego is basically a childish obsession towards various things, even power. My way or the highway is also likely a sign of ego. Self-centeredness is also a strong indicator of ego.

There are positive aspects of the ego aswell. The ego gives you the willpower to achieve your desires. With the ego comes the desire, and with the desire comes the effort to obtain the things you want. Negative aspects include being inconsiderate of others. arrogance etc. Think about what the politicians are doing, anything just to hold power, harm others, or even the entire country, for the sake of self-gain. Even at their age, they are behaving in a childish manner just for their desires. The most effective way to overcome ego is to be considerate and thoughtful of others. Overcoming your ego means overcoming your greed, anxiousness, frustrations, anger and more.

Let go of yourself for a loved one for one time, and you let go of your ego. Ego, in more ways than one, is your narrow-mindedness; overcoming it broadens your mindset. When you see things from others’ perspectives, you can often see your own narrow-minded mindset. If you learn, adapt, adjust and expand, the ego vanishes automatically. Maturity means no longer being childish. True growth comes from knowledge and learning, and with truth, you can expose the limitations of your own ego. To break through the chains of ego, you need to be open-minded enough to listen to others. Ultimately, one does what is comfortable for oneself; the ego is not always wrong or bad, either.
