The positive sides to having experienced sufferings, pain, setbacks, and miseries in life

I believe that there are certain positive sides to having experienced sufferings, pain, setbacks, and miseries in life. First, any such experience likely teaches you lessons. Secondly, one can learn and adapt from these experiences to avoid any potential mistakes in the future. But most importantly, going through such experiences humbles you; you will appreciate every small and big happiness in life much more. You will become more human; you will understand the sufferings of others somewhat. Tragedies are known to make most people artists, and an artist, a philosopher, is more capable of understanding the complexities of human nature and life itself. Grief can eventually give us higher wisdom too. Those who have never faced much grief in life are unlikely to appreciate what they have as well as the relationships in their life.

You are likely to wish well for not just yourself but also for others. And you will appreciate the people in your life way more. And eventually, you will start being a more forgiving person. Your inner thoughts expand, and your heart opens up more for everyone. And especially after having reached high levels of happiness and satisfaction in your life, you will likely be more eager to help the helpless. You might even develop tendencies of selfless service. You will ensure that your words do not hurt others nor say anything that would make someone feel more down than they already are.

Basically, what I am trying to suggest is that bad experiences can potentially make you a better person. And you are also able to enjoy every happiness in life much more. You feel humble once things improve in your life. Even an atheist will likely feel the blessings from the goddesses and gods much more intimately. When you are so hurt that you give up on all hope, and then when things start to improve, you will realize aspects of life more logically. You will focus more on yourself and your karma instead of analyzing what others do. Eventually, there will be no place for any sadness in your life, because at that point you will have endured enough miseries and you will want none of it anymore, and by that point, you should be strong enough to handle any future bad experiences. I hope so, and at the same time, I also hope that all of us prosper in life and spread happiness and peace to others. Additionally, as one of the biggest bonuses, you no longer feel self-pity, and you stop complaining.
